The Xgimi Z9X is a new and relatively lightweight, portable projector. The model is advertised as having 4K resolution and promising a sharp image display. A 0.39-inch DMD chip is used for image generation. As is usual for compact projectors, the brightness is relatively low compared to projectors with conventional light sources, with a specified brightness of 1,300 CVIA lumens. The projection ratio is adjustable between 0.98-1.3:1 and a zoom lens is installed, which could make setup a little easier. Wall mounting is not possible, but the projector itself can be rotated 150 degrees on a corresponding gimbal. A side effect of this design is that the optics can be protected somewhat during transport.
The model weighs 1.5 kilograms and is 7.8 centimeters thick, so it should be relatively easy to carry in a backpack or bag. It is a smart projector, so a SoC, RAM, and internal storage are on board, allowing for the use of streaming platforms without the need for an external player.
The BT.2020 color space is reproduced at 110% with a Delta E color deviation of less than 1. According to Xgimi, the projector can also display image content at 240 Hz at Full HD resolution, and VRR and ALLM are also supported, which should please video gamers.
The model is currently available for pre-order in China for the equivalent of around $580.
