Xgimi Elfin Flip 4K and Flip Laser projector crowdfunding campaign launches on Makuake Japan

The Xgimi Elfin Flip 4K and Elfin Flip Laser projector crowdfunding campaign has begun on Makuake in Japan. The compact projectors are designed to be stored in small spaces thanks to a folding design, yet still offer 1,600 ISO lumens of brightness. Both come with Harman Kardon speakers.
The Elfin Flip Laser projector utilizes the Nichia QuaLas RGB laser light source coupled with a 1,920 x 1,080-pixel 0.23-inch DMD (digital micromirror device) while the Elfin Flip 4K couples the same with a 3,840 x 2,160-pixel 0.39-inch DMD. The lasers allow the projectors to achieve a 110% BT2020 color gamut, and a contrast ratio of 10,000:1 for the Flip Laser and 20,000:1 for the Flip 4K.
The Flip Laser offers only digital zoom and a VRR gaming mode with a 20 ms delay at 1080p 60 Hz, while the Flip 4K offers optical zoom with a 1 ms delay at 1080p 120 Hz. Both run Google TV OS and can be used to stream wireless media or act as a monitor when connected by HDMI cable to computers and game consoles.
Both projection units are mounted in a body that swivels 150 degrees from a slim folded position to facing out. They are designed for storage in compact spaces with a width and height of 245 x 254 mm (9.6 x 10 in.) and a folded depth of 78 mm (3.1 in.) for the Flip 4K and 75 mm (3.0 in.) for the Flip Laser. The Flip 4K weighs 1.55 kg (3.4 lbs) while the Flip Laser weighs 1.38 kg (3.0 lbs).
The Elfin Flip 4K has an MSRP of 206,800 yen (~$1,290) while the Flip Laser has an MSRP of 139,800 yen (~$890). Readers in Japan can pre-order the Elfin Flip 4K at an early bird special of 44% off MSRP, or 114,800 yen (~$720), or the Elfin Flip Laser at 39% off MSRP, or 84,900 yen (~$530).
