A new projector series is now available at a substantial discount, aiming to stand out with exceptionally high-contrast visuals. The 4K projectors also feature a flexible projection ratio for versatile setup options.

The manufacturer Xgimi is introducing three new projectors via Kickstarter. The Titan Noir series includes three models that differ in brightness and contrast ratio. The base model is rated at up to 4,800 ISO lumens, while the Titan Noir Pro reaches 6,000 ISO lumens and the Titan Noir Max up to 7,000 ISO lumens. Native contrast ratios are specified at up to 7,000:1, 8,000:1, and 10,000:1 for the top model.

All three are laser projectors that use a triple-laser light source. Xgimi claims a Delta E of below 0.8 and strong color performance, with 110% coverage of the BT.2020 color space. The projectors support 4K playback via pixel shifting, while the native resolution is 1,980 x 1,080 pixels. Pixel-shifting technology does not necessarily cause any visible degradation in display quality. However, it has some limitations: the advertised 240 Hz refresh rate is only available at Full HD resolution, not in 4K.

These are standard-throw projectors rather than short-throw models, with a variable projection ratio ranging from 0.98:1 to 2.0:1. Lens shift is supported, and the devices include an integrated Harman Kardon sound system. As part of the crowdfunding campaign, the Titan Noir Max is currently priced at $2,999, with shipping expected to begin in June. Given Xgimi’s track record, the risk of a total loss for backers appears relatively low compared to typical crowdfunding projects. As a more affordable alternative, the Xgimi Horizon 20 is also available via Amazon.
