Epic Games will not be revealing its free PC game of the week for a few hours yet. For reference, the company will lift the lid on its first Mystery Game this holiday season at 01:00 UTC on Friday 12. In the meantime, it is now giving away a game for Android and iOS that is available on consoles like the Nintendo Switch (curr. $34.99 on Amazon).
This time, Epic Games has decided to discount the original Dead Cells, which Playdigious has priced at $8.99 on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Replacing The Darkside Detective, Dead Cells is a metroidvania-inspired roguelite often considered one of the toughest in the genre. To that end, the game offers nonlinear progression with new levels unlocked after each permadeath.
While gameplay is challenging, Dead Cells maintains a 4.9/5 on the Google Play Store from over 119k reviews. Meanwhile, the game's iOS port has achieved a 4.8/5 rating. Dead Cells will remain free to claim from the Epic Games Store until December 18 at around 16:00 UTC. As always, the storefront's latest giveaway can be claimed via its mobile store, or this instant checkout link, provided you are logged into an Epic Games account on your browser.
