On December 2, the wait was finally over – WoW players were able to move into their own homes with the launch of Midnight Early Access, included in the Collector’s Edition. The new housing system adds a fresh layer of collecting and opens up an entirely new creative dimension in World of Warcraft. Blizzard gives players extensive freedom in designing their homes, a flexibility that has already led to impressive creations – including the house built by Reddit user u/Fridge_nz, which stands out as a particularly striking example.
The Reddit thread is titled “My guildy built a rock house, so I had to build him a neighbor.” And who lives in a rock house? None other than Patrick Star – the pink starfish from SpongeBob SquarePants. Naturally, the MMO player felt inspired to build a pineapple house modeled after SpongeBob’s iconic home in Bikini Bottom. While the structure is not made from an actual fruit, it is cleverly covered in orange carpets to replicate the pineapple’s distinctive texture. Details such as the leafy crown on the roof, the curved chimney, and the two porthole-style windows – ingeniously created from wells – are particularly well executed, perfectly capturing the cartoon-like charm of the original.
On Reddit, the post has been met with widespread enthusiasm – not only for the creator’s imagination, but also for the impressive level of freedom offered by WoW’s new housing system. Comments such as “You won housing. Period.” and “I was skeptical about housing, but this is awesome” reflect the community’s excitement. The pineapple house has come to symbolize exactly what many players were hoping for – a flexible, highly creative system rather than a rigid collection of prefab modules. One minor criticism raised by users is the absence of a video, as only a single image of the project has been shared so far. Even so, the overall response to the housing feature has been overwhelmingly positive, with expectations not just met but exceeded.
