There were murmurs about Microsoft finally bringing Halo to the PlayStation. Now, it has finally happened. Unfortunately, none of the older games make the cut. Instead, we get an entirely new title called Halo: Campaign Evolved. It has been shown off via a new trailer, and it will arrive on PS5, Xbox and PC sometime next year.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is essentially a modern-day remake of Halo: Combat Evolved from 2001. It gets the full remaster treatment, complete with 4K textures and some never-before-seen single-player content in the form of prequel missions and nine new weapons. As confirmed earlier, the game will be developed on Unreal Engine 5 and not the original Slipspace engine used by older Halo games.
Lastly, Halo: Campaign Evolved will come with a fully functional multiplayer mode with cross-platform support, along with two-player couch co-op. Up to four players can jump in together and take on the campaign. Whether PVP mode will be available remains unknown.
