Xiaomi launches affordable 120Hz projector with 1,000 lumens brightness rating

Xiaomi has launched a new projector series in China, and this lineup brings two models. Among the two is the Redmi Projector 5 Pro, which stands as an affordable high refresh rate model.
Specifically, it has a 120Hz refresh rate, and Xiaomi highlights that the projector has a 5ms low latency, enabling smooth and responsive gameplay. There's MEMC support, promising optimized dynamic images and frame interpolation.
As for the projector itself, Xiaomi notes that it has a 1080p physical resolution, and thanks to HDR10 support, it should be able to deliver a good overall media experience. Speaking of which, the 1,000 lumens CVIA brightness rating is another highlight.
For reference, 1,000 CVIA is about 700 in the ISO scale, and it's about moderate in ANSI. This rating makes the Projector 5 Pro ideal for dim and dark rooms. The white balance and color temperature should be true to life as well.
To keep things optimal during prolonged projection hours, the projector is equipped with what the company calls "dual-circulation" air-cooling setup. This cooling configuration is said to deliver powerful heat dissipation while keeping the noise levels as low as 28dB.
Under the hood, the Redmi Projector 5 Pro features the MT9660, which is paired with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Xiaomi says this memory and storage combo allows the device to run apps smoothly, and the built-in storage should be sufficient for downloading more than just essential applications.
The company also claims that with WiFi 6, it can offer bufferless streaming, and the connectivity interface includes USB 2.0, HDMI 2.1 with eARC (Ugreen 6.6-feet cable curr. $9.99 on Amazon), and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Other highlights include a ToF self-adjustment system, support for 30° wide-angle side projection, and a "10W" dual-speaker setup with Dolby Audio.
In China, the Redmi Projector 5 Pro has a launch price of CNY 1,999, around $296. It's unclear whether Xiaomi will officially bring it outside the Chinese market.
