Hisense launches the PX4 Pro TriChroma projector with built-in Xbox cloud gaming

Hisense has launched the PX4 Pro, an ultra-short-throw laser projector that has become the first in its category to earn AMD's FreeSync Premium certification. The projector went on sale recently and is priced at $3,998, roughly $1,000 above the outgoing PX3-Pro.

FreeSync Premium allows the PX4 Pro to run adaptive-sync gaming free of screen tearing on displays up to 200 inches, a latency standard previously limited to gaming monitors. Certification requires a minimum of 120Hz at Full HD resolution and mandatory Low Framerate Compensation, which repeats frames in a controlled pattern whenever a connected GPU's output drops below the display's minimum refresh window.

Hisense rates the PX4 Pro at 1ms input lag at 2K resolution and 240Hz, with 4K capped at 120Hz. Two Ultra High-Speed HDMI 2.1 ports with Auto Low Latency Mode handle console gaming, alongside two HDMI 2.0 ports and ARC. Xbox Cloud Gaming runs natively through the built-in VIDAA smart platform, with deeper integration due through a future software update.

The projector is built around a third-generation LPU Digital Laser Engine, a single-chip DLP design using a 0.47-inch DMD chip. It fires separate red, green, and blue laser arrays in rapid sequence instead of relying on a phosphor color wheel, which tends to degrade over time and cap peak saturation. Brightness is rated at 3,500 ANSI lumens, up from 3,000 lumens on the PX3-Pro, with color volume rated at 118% of the BT.2020 color space and color accuracy at Delta E 0.9 or lower.

Contrast is rated at 6,500:1, managed by a seven-level adjustable iris paired with Hisense's Dynamic Grayscale Technology and Enhanced Black Level Algorithm. The 0.20:1 throw ratio lets the projector sit roughly 11.7 inches from a wall for a 120-inch image, and it measures 21.3 by 11.3 by 5.6 inches and weighs 18.3 pounds.

Audio comes from a 66W, six-speaker Dolby Atmos 4.0.2 system with two upward-firing speakers, tuned by French acoustics company Devialet. The projector carries a full certification stack including Dolby Vision, Dolby Vision Gaming, Dolby Atmos, IMAX Enhanced, HDR10+, HDR10, HLG and Filmmaker Mode. Connectivity covers USB 3.0 and 2.0, optical audio output, Gigabit LAN, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, with AirPlay and Miracast also supported.

The VIDAA smart platform ships with Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Prime Video and YouTube pre-installed. Samsung's The Premiere (LSP9T) and LG's CineBeam Qube are priced similarly, in the $5,000 to $6,000 range, but neither carries FreeSync Premium certification, leaving the PX4 Pro as the only projector in its price bracket built specifically for adaptive-sync gaming.
