BYD is targeting the premium SUV segment with the rather imposing Ti 7. The seven-seater combines 402 hp, 74 miles of electric range, and even a built-in refrigerator as it takes on established models such as the Land Rover Defender and high-tech SUVs like the Xiaomi SkyNomad N90.

BYD is bringing the Ti 7 to Europe, a new full-size SUV that combines traditional off-road styling with technology-focused features. The manufacturer has now confirmed pricing and specifications for the UK market. Starting at £47,995 in the UK (about $64,700), the 16.9-ft long plug-in hybrid SUV undercuts many established premium SUVs. The first vehicles are expected to arrive in showrooms in November 2026, with customer deliveries beginning in January 2027.

The pricing in other markets is particularly notable. In the UAE, the five-seat BYD Ti 7 is already available for the equivalent to around $42,700. In the UK, however, the model will initially be offered only as the fully equipped seven-seat Excellence AWD version. This pricing reflects BYD's aggressive push into the large premium SUV segment.

The BYD Ti 7 is also visually aimed at the full-size premium SUV segment. Its boxy body, flared wheel arches, and tall front end are reminiscent of traditional off-road models such as the Land Rover Defender. At the same time, the interior follows the approach of current Chinese premium vehicles such as the Xiaomi SkyNomad N90, with numerous displays, comfort features, and unusual extras.

For the powertrain, BYD is introducing its DM-p Super Hybrid system in the UK for the first time. It combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged gas engine with three electric motors, producing a total output of 300 kW (402 hp). This allows the full-size BYD Ti 7 to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph (62 mph) in 4.8 seconds. BYD lists the SUV's top speed at 118 mph.

Electrical energy is supplied by a 35.6 kWh Blade Battery. The Ti 7 is expected to travel up to 74 miles on electric power alone. In everyday driving, the combustion engine frequently supplies energy to the battery and supplements the electric powertrain on longer trips.

The BYD Ti 7 comes with an extensive list of standard features. In the UK, the Excellence AWD trim includes a 15.6-inch infotainment display, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an 18-speaker sound system, and heated and ventilated leather seats. It also features three-zone climate control, two 50W wireless charging pads, and an integrated cooling and warming compartment between the driver and front passenger.

The refrigerator is one of the SUV's more unusual interior features. While other manufacturers emphasize additional power or larger displays, BYD is also focusing on comfort for long trips and families.

The Ti 7 also aims to offer plenty of space. With all seven seats in use, it provides 4.4 cubic feet of cargo capacity. Folding the second and third rows increases the maximum cargo volume to 64.6 cubic feet. The SUV also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), allowing external devices to draw power directly from the vehicle's battery.

At launch, the BYD Ti 7 will be offered in the UK exclusively in the fully equipped Excellence AWD trim. Buyers can already reserve the model with a small deposit, which BYD UK will match with an additional contribution.

With the Ti 7, BYD is introducing a large Chinese SUV that combines traditional luxury styling with modern features. While models such as the Land Rover Defender focus on a commanding presence, Chinese manufacturers including BYD and Xiaomi are increasingly challenging established brands in the premium SUV segment.
