Xiaomi launches new electric SUV with insane 1,705 km of range and ADAS

Xiaomi introduced the SkyNomad SUVs in July. Now, the brand has officially unveiled the SkyNomad SUV family in China. Xiaomi has launched a total of four extended-range variants, namely, the 5-seater N70 Pro and N70 Max, the N90 Max Explorer Edition, and the 7-seat N90 Max. It comes as a direct competitor to the Li Auto L9 and the AIOT M9, both of which offer five+ seat cabins and EREV powertrains.

Dimensionally, the SkyNomad N90 Max measures 5,285 mm (5.285 meters) in length, making it 67 mm longer than the Li Auto L9 (5,218 mm/5.219 meters) but just 1 mm shorter than the AITO M9 (5,286 mm/5.286 meters). It’s worth noting that these models use an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) setup rather than being pure EVs. Speaking more precisely, the entry-level N70 Pro is powered by a single-motor, front-wheel-drive powertrain, which is said to deliver a maximum output of 210 kW (282 hp) and 351 km (218 miles) of pure electric CLTC range through a 52 kWh LFP pack and a combined range of 1,351 km (840 miles) with a full tank and a battery. 

The N70 Max ships with a dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain, offering 505 km (314 miles) of electric range via a 76 kWh battery pack and 1,461 km (908 miles) combined. Plus, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. On the other hand, the N90 Max and the N90 Max get the same 79 kWh battery pack but feature a powerful 310 kW dual motor all-wheel-drive system, and Xiaomi claims that they offer a 464 km (288 mile) pure electric range and 1,705 km (1,059 miles) combined. 

All four SkyNomad models feature a 1.5-liter turbocharged range extender, an NVIDIA Thor assisted-driving chip, LiDAR, radar, a 16.1-inch 3K infotainment system, an 8.8-inch instrument cluster, and an ADAS feature suite that includes voice-controlled driving, automatic lane change, and parking-space-level navigation. 

As expected from Xiaomi, the SkyNomad series comes with an aggressive price tag. The entry-level SkyNomad N70 Pro is priced at RMB 209,000 (~$31,275), while the N70 Max, the N90 Max, and the N90 Max Explorer Edition are priced at RMB 239,900 (~$35,745), RMB 269,900 (~$40,215), and RMB 299,900 (~$44,685). Available in blue, cool khaki, volcanic gray, pearl white, obsidian black, and green colorways, these SkyNomad models are now available for purchase in China. However, there’s no word on its international availability.
