Tesla under pressure: New SUV offers up to 620 miles of range
Competition in the EV market continues to intensify, especially in Europe. Xpeng has officially confirmed the German launch of the new L03, with the coupe-style electric SUV initially arriving in four battery-electric variants. Starting at €35,600, the newcomer is positioned as a more affordable alternative to the Tesla Model Y and Skoda Elroq. The Xpeng L03 REEV is scheduled to follow a few months later. Its range extender will provide a combined WLTP range of up to 621 miles, according to the manufacturer.
With a starting price of €35,600, the Xpeng L03 RWD Standard Range undercuts much of its all-electric competition. The current Tesla Model Y starts at €39,990, while the new Skoda Elroq costs at least €37,390 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 begins at €45,750. These prices highlight just how competitive the segment has become. Even the base L03 features a 241 hp rear-wheel-drive system and an LFP battery providing 277 miles of WLTP range.
For drivers who need more all-electric range, Xpeng offers the L03 RWD Long Range for €38,600. Its larger battery extends the range to 323 miles. The more performance-focused AWD Performance costs €41,600, produces 382 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in 4.5 seconds. At the top of the all-electric range is the €46,600 AWD Performance Ultra, which is equipped for partially automated driving and adds features such as massaging front seats.
Xpeng says the BEV models' 400V architecture supports charging at up to 236 kW. At a DC fast charger, the battery can reportedly charge from 20% to 80% in just 18 minutes. Standard interior equipment includes a large infotainment display, integrated Google Maps and a panoramic roof. Deliveries of the first EVs in Germany are scheduled for Q4 2026. Buyers interested in the REEV's extended range will have to wait until the fall, when it will join the battery-electric models.
