Anbernic RG SP: pricing and availability details revealed for new clamshell handheld

Following the unveiling of its new clamshell handheld, the RG SP, Anbernic has now revealed how much it costs and when it will be released. The announcement comes a week after the release of official unboxing and gameplay videos.

The Anbernic RG SP isn't the manufacturer's first clamshell handheld, but a number of reviews have described it as Anbernic's best take on the Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP and as a great device for emulating GBA games.

Sporting a 3.4-inch IPS display with a 720 × 480 resolution, the Anbernic RG SP is a Linux-powered handheld with an Allwinner H700 quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. It also has 1GB of RAM and ships with a 16GB microSD card.

The RG SP features dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, dual microSD card slots, and a 3,300mAh battery that charges at 7.5W. Anbernic says it should provide up to 6 hours of gameplay on a single charge. The new handheld also comes with improved controls, a USB-C port, and an HDMI port.

The Anbernic RG SP will be available to purchase starting on August 5, 2026 in Platinum, Graphite, Pearl Blue, and Pearl Pink on the manfafcturer's website. It will have a starting price of $64.99 (includes a 16GB microSD card by default), but the price will increase to $79.99 if you choose to purchase it with an extra 64GB microSD card or jump to $94.99 if you choose a 128GB microSD card.

However, Anbernic will offer buyers a $7 discount on the purchase of the RG SP for the first three days. This means early buyers get to pay $57.99 for the base model, $72.99 for the 64GB version, and $87.99 for the 128GB version.
