Anbernic RG SP: gameplay video shows all colors and emulation capabilities

Fans of the Game Boy Advance have two devices to look forward to. There's the Ayaneo Konkr Pocket Advance which is a remake of the classic handheld, and there's the Anbernic RG SP, which is based on the Game Boy Advance SP.

Ahead of its release, Anbernic has released a video showing the RG SP in action. The five-minute long video not only shows the clamshell handheld running different games, but also gives us a look at the different colors that the device will be available in.

The Anbernic RG SP will be sold in Platinum Silver, Graphite Black, Pearl Blue, and Pearl Pink. All four color variants have a metallic finish. Regardless of the version, the RG SP has a 3.4-inch IPS display with a 720 × 480 resolution, 1GB of RAM, and a 3,000mAh battery capacity.

The video shows the RG SP running a handful of games for the Game Boy Advance such as Fire Emblem, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, Golden Sun: The Lost Age, and Pokemon Emerald. According to the video description, it supports 3x upscaling for GBA games.

It also has no problem running Game Boy and Game Boy Color games such as Kirby's Dream Land 2, Pokemon Pinball, and The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. It is also shown running games made for the PlayStation Portable, PS1, Nintendo 64, SEGA Saturn, and SEGA Dreamcast.

In addition to emulating retro games, the Anbernic RG SP is also shown running a port of Stardew Valley and streaming the PC version of Cuphead: Don't Deal with the Devil from Steam. Owners of the RG SP will also be able to use it for local multiplayer games via Netplay. They will also be able to cast it wirelessly to a TV, connect a Bluetooth controller, and play solo or with a friend.

The Anbernic RG SP doesn't have a release date yet neither has its price tag been announced.
