Lenovo launches new 16-inch gaming laptop globally with Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 12GB and 240 Hz OLED display

Lenovo has already released multiple gaming laptops this year. For instance, the company has just started selling the Legion 7a 15ASH11 in more countries featuring AMD Strix Halo processors. At the same time, it brought the Legion 5 15IAX11 to the US in June with Intel Arrow Lake HX processors and a 1,000-nit OLED display.
Surprisingly, Lenovo has now returned to the AMD-powered Legion Pro 5 with a new variant. For context, the Legion Pro 5 16AFR10 arrived in January 2025 during CES 2025 alongside Intel-backed alternatives that we reviewed later that same year (curr. $2,999 on Amazon).
Previously, Lenovo sold the Legion Pro 5 16AFR10 with up to Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5070 8GB laptop GPU. Quietly, the company has updated its AMD-based 16-inch laptop to include the newer 12GB variant that Nvidia announced in April. Please note that this newer variant only contains 50% more VRAM than the existing GeForce RTX 5070.
Elsewhere, the Legion Pro 5 16AFR10 returns with the Ryzen 9 9955HX and its 16 Zen 5 cores, to which a 55 W TDP is available. Moreover, Lenovo continues to include an 80 Wh battery and up to 32 GB of RAM. A 1600p and 240 Hz OLED display features too, which also delivers 500 nits SDR and 1,100 nits HDR peak brightness values.
Currently, we can only find the Legion Pro 5 16AFR10 with the GeForce RTX 5070 12GB on its PSREF website. However, PSREF confirms that Lenovo has created SKUs for all key markets. Thus, we can expect the new Legion Pro 5 16AFR10 to receive a global release later this year.
