Acer releases new 16-inch laptop with 120 Hz OLED display and top end Core Ultra X9 388H processor

Acer has quietly expanded upon its Swift 16 (SF16-71T) with a more powerful edition. For context, the company presented its latest Swift 16 in January during CES 2026 with Intel Panther Lake processors. However, it waited until April before releasing the Swift 16 (SF16-71T) in any capacity.
Even then, Asus restricted its 16-inch laptop to the Core Ultra X7 358H, which we reviewed in May. Cheaper versions powered by the lesser Core Ultra 7 355 are also available though, and without sacrificing 32 GB of RAM (curr. $1,199 on Amazon). Additionally, Acer is also now selling the more powerful Core Ultra X9 388H with Arc B390 graphics via Best Buy in the US and Currys in the UK.

According to our benchmarks, the Core Ultra X9 388H enjoys a modest 3% performance boost over the Core Ultra X7 358H. This gap stretches to around 10% in some tasks, though. The Core Ultra X9 388H should not overpower the Swift 16's cooling system either, considering the low temperatures and fan noise of our Core Ultra X7 358H unit under maximum load.
The Core Ultra X9 388H model carries over 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB of storage from its less powerful counterpart, though. Also, Acer's new option features the same 2.8K and 120 Hz OLED display, which averaged 400 nits in SDR mode under our tests. Moreover, the Swift 16 (SF16-71T) weighs just 1.5 kg, despite its 16-inch form factor and 70 Wh battery.
Acer charges $1,899 for the Core Ultra X9 388H in the US and £1,899 in the UK. At the time of writing, this pricing represents a $100 uplift over the Core Ultra X7 358H version in the US. By contrast, the Core Ultra X9 388H is £400 more expensive in the UK at the time of publication.
