Nvidia boss Jensen Huang’s signed Tom Ford leather jacket can now be yours for the cost of 16 RTX 5090 GPUs

Just as Steve Jobs became iconic for his black turtleneck presentations, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has become known for delivering major keynotes, presentations, and GPU reveals while sporting a pretty cool-looking leather jacket. While he may have an expensive collection of leather jackets, including a lizard-embossed one, one of the jackets he signed at Hon Hai Tech Day (Foxconn) could now be yours, courtesy of a Sotheby’s auction, with a current bid of $70,000 in play.
For context, the jacket in question is a black Tom Ford Nappa grain leather blouson. The Sotheby’s listing describes the jacket in detail and states:
“Sotheby’s is proud to present Jensen Huang’s signature black leather jacket, an iconic garment associated with some of the most consequential moments in modern technology. For more than a decade, Huang wore the jacket during Nvidia’s landmark product launches, developer conferences, and major announcements that helped define the rise of artificial intelligence, and yes, even while eating zhajiangmian noodles on a street corner.”
For further validation, the jacket was photo-matched by PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator) to Huang’s appearance at Hon Hai Tech Day in Taipei on October 18, 2023. The signature was verified and authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA).
Just like Steve Jobs’ turtleneck and Levi’s 501 look, Huang’s leather jacket has become a visual shorthand for innovation and vigor in Silicon Valley. He has worn numerous Tom Ford leather jackets at GPU reveals, product unveilings, shareholder meetings, and even on the cover of Time magazine.
If you’re looking for a similar Tom Ford jacket, you’ll have to pay $5,000 to $10,000 apiece, roughly the price of a Blackwell AI chip. But if you’re looking for the real deal, signed in gold marker by Jensen Huang, you can get the Jensen Jacket by bidding over the $70,000 price tag it has at the time of writing. At its current bid, you are effectively paying the equivalent of the market rate of 16 RTX 5090 GPUs (Curr: $4350 on Amazon), though sizably less than what a single Blackwell-based server currently costs, for what is arguably an interesting piece of modern silicon industry history in the making.
Huang’s Jensen Jacket will be up for auction through July 17 and will be displayed live in New York, thanks to Long Journey Ventures. Proceeds from the auction will go to the Edge Institute, a nonprofit organization.
The official listing states, “The proceeds will fund fellowships, grants, and residencies for the next generation of young builders to pursue their passions and projects, supporting them as they find their higher purpose.”
