Lenovo has released a new desktop globally packing multiple workstation-grade components. Available with up to 1 TB of RAM and 72 GB of VRAM, the ThinkStation P5 Gen 2 supports up to two desktop GPUs and eight M.2 SSDs, too.

A few months have passed since Lenovo announced a successor to the original ThinkStation P5 (curr. $1,745 - refurbished on Amazon). Unveiled in March, the ThinkStation P5 Gen 2 boasts support for up to two graphics cards and 1 TB of DDR5-6400 RAM via eight DIMM slots running in quad-channel mode.

Additionally, Lenovo equips its new desktop with a choice of Xeon 600 processors from Intel's Granite Rapids family. At the time of writing, most markets have received the Xeon 634, Xeon 636, Xeon 638, Xeon 654, Xeon 656, Xeon 658X, Xeon 674X, Xeon 676X and Xeon 678X, ranging between 12 cores and 24 threads to 48 cores and 96 threads in the case of the Xeon 678X.

Moreover, the ThinkStation P5 Gen 2 can be configured with a choice of professional graphics cards up to the Nvidia RTX Pro 5000 Blackwell with 72 GB of GDDR7 VRAM. According to PSREF, the RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell Max-Q with 96 GB VRAM mentioned in March's announcement is still on the cards, too. Setting that aside, the desktop contains enough space to hold eight M.2 SSDs and a trio of 3.5-inch drives or four of each.

ThinkStation P5 Gen 2 pricing starts at $5,999 in the US. Meanwhile, Lenovo has set minimum prices of AUD 6,079, HKD 35,964, €3,839-€4,264 and £3,630 in Australia, Hong Kong, the Eurozone and the UK, respectively. However, one can easily configure the ThinkStation P5 Gen 2 beyond $300K thanks to exorbitant memory prices. Please see Lenovo's website for more details.
