Grand Theft Auto V’s Heist Mastermind Lester Crest’s voice actor, Jay Klaitz, has chimed in on the pricing for Grand Theft Auto VI, supporting the idea of a $100 price tag. Klaitz says that the monumental effort Rockstar Games put into developing GTA VI pretty much justifies it.
Sitting down with The Escapist in an exclusive interview on October 29, Klaitz laid out the intensive production process behind GTA games and stated years of development and content-rich updates post-launch make GTA titles feel like “multiple games when you buy the one.”
Rumors have been circulating regarding GTA VI’s potential $100 price tag upon launch. Responding to the question of whether Grand Theft Auto VI deserves to sell for a flat $100, Klaitz said:
Yeah, dude. I mean, GTA V was so heavy on the mo-cap. I assume that GTA VI will be the same way, and these games take so long to make. Years and years and years.
It’s not like they’ve been hanging out, chilling, and then just started doing work the last year. They finished GTA V and started on GTA VI more or less immediately thereafter. This sh*t takes forever, and as we saw with GTA V, the game will come out, and there will be other versions, there will be downloadable content, and it will be online.
You’re almost buying multiple games when you buy the one. I would also like to see it made more accessible to more fans, so I get that side of the argument, too, to make it affordable for folks. That’s cool too. Maybe there’s like a way to split the difference, but I share that sentiment that this game warrants the price tag. Yeah, I get that.
Klaitz explained the rigorous motion capture process for GTA V, which took place in New York studios on Long Island. There, the actors performed full-mo-cap scenes, such as Lester exiting his vehicle or moving through hallways on scaled “skeleton” sets.
GTA Online’s consistent updates and expansions led to sustained work over the years, lasting days to weeks. Klaitz expects similar plans for GTA VI when it finally releases on May 26, 2026, for the Xbox Series S|X and PlayStation 5, with a PC port planned for a later release.
