According to early reports, AOC is preparing to release six new high-end gaming monitors. For the time being, only rough specifications have emerged from Videohall. Nonetheless, it seems that AOC hopes to chase frame rates rather than higher resolutions, motion clarity or peak brightness values.
To that end, only one of the six monitors revealed is said to drop below 160 Hz. By contrast, many others are said to support dual refresh rate modes, indicating that AOC is sourcing multiple panels from LG Display. Arguably, the pick of the bunch is a panel that natively outputs at 1440p and 500 Hz. However, Dual Mode technology allows the monitor to double its refresh rate by dropping its resolution by three-quarters. As a result, this panel should be capable of hitting 1,000 Hz while running at 720p.
Presumably, these six monitors will be offered first in China. Although the post does not reveal as much, AOC tends to introduce new monitors in China before other markets. For example, the Agon Pro AGP327UZD made its debut last month in China to rival the likes of the MSI MPG 322URX (curr. $1,089 on Amazon) with a 4K native resolution, a 240 Hz refresh rate and an 80 Gbps-capable DisplayPort 2.1 input.
In other words, we would not be surprised if AOC offers some, if not all, of these monitors globally at some point. The full list of forthcoming AOC gaming monitors is as follows:
