2025 has been a good year for indie games in general. Titles like REPO, Mage Arena, Peak, and Lethal Company have become instant hits, and this latest title is following in their footsteps.
Swedish video game company Nuggets Entertainment has developed (and self-published) co-op adventure RV There Yet?, in which you and your buddies are returning from a vacation, and are forced to take an alternate route back through the “old country”. Drive around with your buddies, scavenge parts you may find, repair the van, navigate terrain, and find your way home.
Players are expected to also contend with the dangers in Mabutts Valley; you’ll need to work together to find your way out, and not everyone will make it in one piece, so make sure to stock up on a combination of beers, cigarettes, burgers, and EPI pens. Players will need to master the “physics-based winch system” mounted at the front and back of the RV, allowing them to traverse this dangerous terrain.
The game uses a simple, goofy, and lovable art style, making it a great casual, fun experience with your friends. Most indie games in this category cater specifically to that crowd; the term ‘Friendslop’ seems to be used quite a bit to describe this type of game.
This includes games like Peak, where you and your friends play as survivors with limited inventory and stamina, who must climb mountains in several terrains, while trying not to starve, freeze, or fall to your deaths. The proximity voice chat has led to some memorable moments, found in abundance on YouTube.
The devs previously published a huge thank-you post for reaching $2 million in sales. "First of all, we want to thank everyone for the enormous support. Our 8-week game jam exceeded all expectations," it also read. "We have been investigating the crashes, and even if we haven't solved them yet, we have made some progress. We haven't forgotten those of you who are crashing," it continued.
While it is common for indie games to have a bit of a rocky start due to limited internal testing and often the lack of a proper QA department, the title has seen multiple updates over the past few days. RV There Yet? was released on Steam on the 21st of October with a week-long 10% discount that has since lapsed; the game is currently available for $7.99 on Steam.
