Red Dead Redemption is a game that holds many mysteries, some of which remain unsolved. And 15 years later, Dan Houser has revealed the identity of The Strange Man, a mystical character who has fueled numerous rumors.
As a result, in the latest episode of Lex Fridman's podcast, he points out that the game, which was released in 2010, could have become boring for players, and that the studio added various RPG-inspired elements:
"We felt we needed more story so we, quite late in development, started putting in almost like this RPG-type content where you'd go and meet someone, and they'd be like short stories. We tried to make them these short stories with a sting in the tail, and he came out as just this weird character. And then we built a bit into the story where he would unlock as you were making your way through, and be a commentary on what you were doing.”
And according to Dan Houser, The Strange Man, who appears as a gentleman wearing a top hat, is none other than the representation of the devil, karma, and John Marston's shadow. Thus, this character knows everything John Marston does, and he also knows everything that will happen in the future.
However, although his identity appears to have been revealed, certain questions remain unanswered, particularly because Rockstar Games has not developed certain aspects of his personality. Therefore, it will be necessary to know if other details will be revealed in the future. And if he will be present in Red Dead Redemption 3 if it is released one day.
