There have been leaks and rumors hinting at Red Dead Redemption 2 coming to the Switch 2 for some time now. While Rockstar has chosen to stay tight lipped about it, one of the voice actors seems to be hinting at an imminent announcement. Along with the Switch 2 version, there is also expectation of a next-gen upgrade for the PS5 and the Xbox Series consoles.
During a Red Dead Redemption stream, the voice actor for John Marston, Rob Wiethoff, shared his excitement for an upcoming announcement without spilling the beans. He said, “I’ve got such exciting news, I can’t share it with you right now and its absolutely killing me.” Wiethoff went on to add, “..but I truly cannot think about anything else especially playing this game, I can’t think of anything else.”
Though Wiethoff wasn’t specific about anything, he did say that that while it might not be tomorrow, June 15, a major announcement will happen before Friday, June 20. This is believed to be the announcement for the Switch 2 version of Red Dead Redemption 2. Along with the Switch 2 version, Rockstar could also announce the next-gen upgrade for the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X/ Series S.
Earlier in May, known leaker Nate the Hate also hinted at an upcoming announcement for the same and mentioned that the Nintendo switch 2 version of the game will arrive “later this year.” According to him, the release could be in the late-summer, early-fall window.
As mentioned earlier, Rockstar has not shared any information on the Switch 2 version of Red Dead Redemption 2. Back when the console's initial game lineup was being discussed in April, Red Dead Redemption 2 was rumored to be part of the reveal and since then, even more rumors have popped up.
