Update, June 19, 12:25pm EST: The developer has clarified that there was no interview with MTN and that no announcement for the release date was made. There may have been a translation issue. Furthermore, when the company is ready to announce a release date, it will come from official channels.
The original story follows:
The stunning looking open-world action-adventure game, Crimson Desert, has finally got a November release date. It was speculated that the game will be pushed to 2026 but it looks like developer Pearl Abyss is sticking with the late 2025 launch date. It was first announced in 2019 and since then, there have been a few trailers and gameplay videos showing some open world exploration, combat, and more.
According to a report (machine translated) by Korean publication MTN citing an interview with Pearl Abyss, Crimson Desert will launch on November 2. It is being called a tentative release date since the game is currently in its final stages of development. Depending on how the development progresses, and if there are no delays, November 2 is the official release date, as per the report.
The MTN report goes on to state that the developers were approached by Sony for exclusive distribution rights but they declined. For now, it looks like the Pearl Abyss will be handing the publishing and distribution themselves.
Crimson Desert was originally planned as an MMORPG similar to Black Desert, also from Pearl Abyss, but it changed course to an action adventure. An official gameplay trailer was dropped at Gamescom 2023 after which a series of boss battles were released. Then, during The Game Awards 2024, a late 2025 release date was announced for the game. For now, the developers seem confident about the November launch but in this era of video game delays, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Crimson Desert was also pushed to 2026.
