In recent weeks, there were suggestions that Garmin was preparing to introduce an alternative to the Whoop 5.0 after releasing the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 this spring. Unfortunately, that now appears to be a bicep-worn device. Nonetheless, Polar has strongly indicated that it has created an actual rival to Whoop's popular fitness tracker range.
For the time being, Polar has posted a single image on its website that it describes as a 'pre-teaser'. As far as we can tell, Polar has not shown the main body of its forthcoming wearable yet. Instead, the image focuses on its strap, which has a fabric finish similar to the Whoop 5.0's. However, it looks like Polar's alternative uses loop mechanisms rather than velcro like Whoop's equivalent bands.
Regardless, the fact that Polar has struck a line through the word 'watch' in its teaser suggests that the wearable will do without a display altogether. While Polar has not revealed specifications yet, the likes of the5krunner expect the company to use its latest Elixir sensor, also found in the Polar Grit X2 series (curr. $884.95 on Amazon). Polar will fully unveil its new device on September 3 globally.
