Just over a fortnight has passed since Garmin unveiled the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970 after a series of last-minute leaks. As it turns out, many of the new features that the company debuted on the Forerunner 570 and the Forerunner 970 are coming to older smartwatches, too.
While the Forerunner 570 and its more expensive sibling have been shipping for a few weeks, Garmin continues to post short-form content about both on its social media channels. For instance, its latest video shows the additional features that one would gain if they were to upgrade from a Forerunner 965 to a Forerunner 970. One tweet and accompanying video have drawn attention for the wrong reasons, though.
Embedded below, the tweet claims that one can 'take a call and make a call directly from your wrist' with either the Forerunner 570 or Forerunner 970 (curr. $749 on Amazon). Unhelpfully, the company has positioned the caveat that one can only use this feature 'when paired with your smartphone' in a spot that is easy to miss. As a result, the video has been shot down for being misleading, particularly in light of LTE refreshes being on the horizon later this year for some Garmin smartwatches. There is nothing to suggest the Forerunner 570 or Forerunner 970 are one of the devices set to receive LTE connectivity later this year, though.
