What is Deep Rock Galactic?
At its heart, Deep Rock Galactic is a class-based co-op shooter with a heavy focus on Player versus Environment (PvE) content. Basically, you round up a group of four people, each playing a different class, and battle your way through a procedurally generated map.
There are four unique classes to choose from - Gunner, Scout, Driller, and Engineer, each with its own special abilities and weapons. The Scout, for example, can use a flare gun to make it easier to see in dark areas, or the Gunner can deploy a shield to protect his teammates.
The objectives on these maps vary and range from extracting a set number of resources to building a pipeline or escort missions where you accompany a bulldozer and protect it. Almost all of them end with a mad dash to your escape pod.
What is interesting is that environments are fully destructible, meaning there is no set path to your goal, leaving you free to use any means to accomplish it.
You can check out the game's Steam page to learn more. The promotion ends on June 26.
