Recent GTA 6 leaked footage is reportedly over a year old, claims insider

A major GTA 6 leak surfaced today, with several pieces of in-game footage and map images spreading across social media. The clips quickly sparked debate among fans, with some questioning whether they were genuine or AI-generated. However, new information suggests that the footage could be legitimate, although it may be much older than some fans expected.
According to well-known insider NateTheHate, the newly leaked GTA 6 footage is more than a year old. He also claims that the clips are not part of the rumored GTA 6 previews that are reportedly underway.
An additional source shared similar information with Insider Gaming while analyzing one of the leaked basketball videos. The file was reportedly encoded using FFmpeg 6.1, a version released in November 2023. This suggests the video file could have been created in that format from November 2023 onward. However, the encoding date doesn't necessarily reveal when the original footage was recorded, as the video could have been captured earlier and converted later.
Based on this information, the leaked clips appear to come from an older build of GTA 6 rather than the current version of the game. That means the footage may not accurately represent how the game looks or plays today.
Meanwhile, Rockstar Games has already started taking action against the leaked content. The studio has reportedly been sending DMCA takedown notices to users sharing the in-game footage and map online, causing several posts and clips to disappear from social media.
