GTA 6 Netflix deal: Leaker shares why Take-Two chose Netflix

A lot of fans were surprised by the latest Rockstar announcement of GTA 6’s extended look premiering on Netflix. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier tried to get inside information on why Take-Two chose the streaming platform and whether any money was exchanged, but the CEO remained vague about that information. However, a leaker has now shared some interesting information from their sources.
First and foremost, the information comes from leaker Millie A, who doesn’t necessarily have the best track record when it comes to leaks. That said, they shared on X that Take-Two approached Netflix for the extended look and Netflix jumped on the opportunity. The leaker added that the studios did not want to have any leaks ahead of the official release, something they fell victim to with the first GTA 6 trailer. So, after discussing with marketing partner Sony, they decided to go with Netflix.
In a comment, the leaker clarified that the streaming platform did not pay for the premiere. Speculations of some kind of monetary transaction surfaced right after the announcement since it was going to be a timed exclusive, and that too for only a few hours.
Most commenters have questioned the credibility of the information and the leaker, but some find it to be logical. Others are confident that some kind of monetary transaction must have happened.
Jason Schreier's latest Game On newsletter article stated that Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick feels once people watch the extended look, they’ll understand why Netflix was chosen. The CEO also stated that it would feel like a Netflix show. GTA 6 extended look is slated for August 27 and will be exclusive to Netflix for six hours.
