GTA 6 leaks appeared on Discord before Cyberleek videos spread, giving Rockstar a clue

A discovery may aid Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar in their search for Cyberleek. Ben/videotech, a gaming news source on social media, investigated Discord activity before the recent GTA 6 leaks went viral. On GTAForums, he documents how a chatter called “stayonthegrindd” tried to post the first basketball-themed video in a server.

The Discord conversation detailed

On August 18th, stayonthegrindd posted his first message in the unofficial Grand Theft Auto VI Discord. Despite a policy prohibiting leaks, he attempted to upload the initial Cyberleek basketball clip. Based on the timestamps, this happened prior to the video becoming widely distributed.

Moderators deleted a gofile.io link pointing to the same file. Many fans who managed to view the media doubted its authenticity. Stayonthegrindd insisted it was from a 2026 build and teased more gameplay featuring driving. He also offered to share a map like the one that would soon spread across the internet.

Stayonthegrindd was then apparently banned, but he remained determined. Videotech established contact with chatters who claim they spoke to the individual through DMs. A member of the GTA 6 mapping server says they saw the first 5 seconds of a video that begins with Jason driving a dark-colored car out of his driveway.

Videotech confirmed with the gamer that the DM contained GTA 6 gameplay with the gas station NPC encounter. This is significant because the clip didn’t emerge until 5 days later.

A Cyberleek accomplice?

The Discord profile of the person in question originated in 2025 and uses an avatar of a Dutch rapper. Otherwise, the account details don’t yield many clues. After considering the evidence, most readers believe he is not Cyberleek himself. The cautious leaker has reportedly avoided easily traceable channels.

One theory is that the GTA 6 leaks had been circulating on the dark web for some time. The unidentified leaker could belong to the same hacker group as Cyberleek, but is not the individual raising crypto funds.

Even if stayonthegrindd only has a loose connection, Rockstar could take an interest in the messages. The studio may also already be aware of the conversations. Take-Two subpoenaed Discord to acquire various logs from other servers that include DarkViperAU.
