GTA 6 leaker cashes in: Fans pay up to $80 for new gameplay

After years of waiting and a veritable drought of information, GTA fans have developed an enormous appetite for anything new. Apparently, this not only leads the community to meticulously analyze even the smallest details, but also has some fans digging deep into their pockets for supposed new glimpses of gameplay. The leaker known as CYBERLEEK, who was also responsible for the two recently surfaced gameplay videos, now apparently wants to profit from that demand.
As Insider Gaming reports, CYBERLEEK is running polls on its website to decide what footage should be released next. The latest options included a daytime or nighttime car ride, a daytime motorcycle ride and plane gameplay in broad daylight. However, this was by no means a normal online poll. To vote for an option, users had to pay with CYBERLEEK's own crypto token, “$CYBERLEEK,” with the option receiving the most tokens set to be shown next.
According to Insider Gaming, at least one participant reportedly spent the equivalent of around $80 on the vote. That's more than the price of a new full-priced game – with no guarantee that CYBERLEEK will actually release the selected video. In the Reddit community, many users consider it absurd to pay for a leak that will likely end up online for free shortly afterward anyway. The campaign itself is also being viewed critically: According to CYBERLEEK, the releases are intended as a protest against anti-consumer business practices – including the lack of a physical disc version of Grand Theft Auto VI (available for pre-order on Amazon). At the same time, however, CYBERLEEKis promoting and monetizing its own crypto token, which Redditors describe as contradictory and lacking credibility.
