Remedy’s Alan Wake 2 PC update adds native AMD FSR 4 upscaling and frame generation, improving high-resolution performance for supported Radeon GPUs. The patch also broadens compatibility for two ray-tracing features and addresses audio synchronization, gameplay, and stability issues.

Remedy just released an update for Alan Wake 2 that should satisfy Alan Wake fans on PC with AMD GPUs. Update 1.2.10 for PC adds native support for AMD FSR 4. FSR 4 will now be automatically enabled on supported GPUs when a player selects FSR Super Resolution from the graphics settings in-game.

This update also adds long-awaited native support for AMD FSR Frame Generation as a separate option for supported hardware. Radeon users can finally use frame generation without the hassle of replacing files and resorting to third-party methods or tools to get a playable frame rate at higher resolutions.

AMD recently extended FSR 4.1 upscaling support to Radeon RX 7000 Series graphics cards in June 2026. However, machine-learning-based FSR 4 Frame Generation is still supported only by its newer Radeon RX 9000 series GPUs.

A win for Team Red irrespective of limitations

Despite the limited hardware it benefits, this is still a major win for Radeon users, given how intensive Alan Wake 2 is. Running it, especially today without a decent upscaling option, is a big no-go. To add insult to injury, Radeon users had to watch Remedy release an NVIDIA-focused update in January 2025. This update introduced DLSS 4, Transformer models for Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction, RTX Geometry, and Multi-Frame Generation, exclusive to RTX 5000-series GPUs. This was a game-changing update for NVIDIA users, so hopefully the new FSR 4 update will be the same for Radeon users.

According to the patch notes, Remedy also changed 2 ray-tracing features in this update. Opacity Micromaps and Shader Execution Reordering now make use of Microsoft’s Agility SDK, which allows them to work across many GPU variants. The new update also fixes some audio synchronization problems during cinematics and includes several gameplay and stability fixes.
