Marvel's Wolverine PS5 controllers and covers being scalped for $200+ before release date

As feared, the Marvel’s Wolverine controllers and PS5 covers are in short supply. Pre-orders for the two DualSense models and other accessories opened on August 19th in multiple regions. Scalpers are seizing the opportunity to resell their purchases for more than twice their listed prices.
Pricey Wolverine collectibles
Currently, on the U.S. PlayStation Direct store, only the $74 PS5 Pro console covers are sold out. The Battle Yellow and Adamantium Limited Editions are both proving popular on eBay. In some cases, listings are closing at more than $200 and often originate from international locations. The base system alternative is also selling at a dramatic premium.
The $84 Marvel’s Wolverine controllers may end up experiencing the highest demand. Because shipping charges are reasonable, scalpers stockpile special-edition DualSense releases. For now, gamers can still pre-order the black-and-yellow variation at Amazon, Best Buy, and the official storefront. Despite their in-stock status, eBay members are flipping the accessories for more than $125-$150.
Sony is also celebrating the September 15th Marvel’s Wolverine release date with a restyled gaming system. The superhero’s face and black claw marks plaster the surface of the digital PS5 console. Buyers receive a Battle Yellow controller and a voucher to download the Insomniac title.
At this point, the $649.99 hardware remains readily available at retailers. It’s been the subject of controversy amid the company’s transition away from physical games in early 2028. Unlike previous limited-edition consoles, there is no disc drive option.
Positive retail signs
Although there may be enough quantities to dissuade scalpers, the PS5 game itself is performing well. The infinite Standard and Deluxe digital versions rank highly among PlayStation Store pre-orders. It’s less clear how the disc alternative is faring, but concerned collectors welcomed the Blu-ray.
Even with the popularity of the Wolverine DualSense controllers and covers, criticism of the title has mounted. Insomniac Marketing Director James Stevenson recently responded to social media attacks over its alleged unoriginality.
