Xbox's translucent green controller will cost $79.99/€79.99, but 8BitDo and GameSir have cheaper and better options

Back in June, Xbox unveiled a limited edition wireless controller and Xbox Series X console at the Xbox Games Showcase. The two products were announced in celebration of Xbox's 25th anniversary and will be released in November. However, while Xbox is still keeping pricing under wraps, a leak has revealed the price of the controller, alongside availability details.

The info comes from French publication, Dealabs, and according to them, the Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition will be available for pre-order on August 26. This is the same date Gamescom 2026 begins. The report reaffirms that the controller will be priced at €79.99 in Europe and £74.99 in the UK. These prices were first revealed in July by the leaker, eXtas1s on X. However, Dealabs report also includes pricing for the US and Canada which is $79.99 and CA$99.99 respectively.

In comparison, 8BitDo's Ultimate 3-Mode controller for Xbox, which also has a green translucent shell like the original Xbox console, is currently available for $59.99 on Amazon. However, while it is a wireless controller with support for Bluetooth and 2.4GHz wireless, it only connects to Xbox consoles via a USB-C cable.

Another option is the GameSir T7 Pro Retro Green Tri-Mode Controller, which has a similar design and features Mag-Res TMR sticks, and unlike 8BitDo's controller, it connects wirelessly to Xbox controllers. It is available to pre-order now on GameSir's website for $69.99, ahead of its release this month. 

The Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition will be released on October 20, 2026, nearly two months after it was available to pre-order. This goes in line with the official report that said the controller will be released in October while the limited edition console and controller bundle will be released in November. Unfortunately, no details about the pricing and pre-order date for the Xbox Series X25 console.
