3rd Zelda 40th Anniversary product leaks after Switch 2 console and Pro Controller

Recently, photos of the rumored Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 console surfaced. It would accompany a Pro Controller celebrating the Nintendo franchise. Now, Behind the Games shared that XX_750000 revealed a third accessory in a censored image. Potential items range from an amiibo to an Ocarina of Time remake Collector’s Edition.

Let the speculation begin

The photos display a new front and back view of the Switch 2 Pro Controller packaging. Unfortunately, a black box obscures the mysterious third product next to it. One clue is that it’s roughly the same size or slightly larger.

Perhaps the most practical choice would be for Nintendo to sell a Zelda-inspired black-and-gold Joy-Con 2 set. Otherwise, buyers would have to purchase the pricey Switch 2 console to collect the accessory. Similarly, there would be demand for a dock stamped with the Triforce symbol.

An amiibo featuring Link or the Princess is another popular guess from fans dissecting the leak. The gaming giant already has a Mineru's Construct figure scheduled for September 17th. Still, it’s inspired by Tears of the Kingdom instead of the upcoming Zelda release.  

Not an Ocarina of Time anniversary

The console and controller commemorate decades of Zelda games, rather than a specific title. Regardless, Nintendo will likely tie the hardware to its latest first-party project. The company still hasn't narrowed down The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake release date or specified pre-order options.

Many followers hope that a Collector’s Edition surfaces before the remake ships. Breath of the Wild enjoyed Special and Master Editions, with the latter bundling a carrying case and various trinkets. The 2023 Tears of the Kingdom also had a higher-priced version headlined by a steelbook.

The Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 handheld may not include the Ocarina of Time remake itself. That would be more reason to produce a standalone, limited-print physical game.

The identity of the third product may leak in the coming days or weeks. Otherwise, attention will turn to an unconfirmed September Nintendo Direct for official announcements.
