Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake to launch together

The Nintendo Switch 2 owners have a pretty big 2026 to look forward to, if leaks are to be believed. For instance, there are rumors regarding a new Super Mario 3D title and even a new Zelda game. The Zelda game in question is rumored to be a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Not only this, but Nintendo is also seemingly preparing a new limited edition Switch 2 console to launch alongside the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is widely considered to be among the greatest games ever made. It was the first 3D Zelda title and helped define the series’ approach to dungeon and atmospheric design, among other things. So, it would be an understatement to say that Zelda fans have been waiting for a proper remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Prolific leaker Speshal Nick claims that Nintendo is readying a limited-edition, Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch 2 to go along with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake. It is unclear whether The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake will be bundled with the console or sold separately.
While Nintendo has released bundled games with the Switch 2, as in the Mario Kart World Switch 2 bundle, we don’t think the company will include The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time with the special edition Zelda Switch 2. The Ocarina of Time Remake is likely to sell tremendously well. So, Nintendo will look to maximize revenue by selling the game separately.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is a big-budget game
Speshal Nick also claims that remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has a big budget. This implies that the game is not just a minor remake with updated textures and new character models, but a redoing of the classic from the ground up. So, think Blue Point’s remakes of Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Clossus.
In other words, if you were too young to play The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time when it first released and have always wanted to give the game a go, the Nintendo Switch 2 version could be the definitive way to play. We, of course, don’t have any concrete information from Nintendo regarding the Ocarina of Time Remake. But leaks have suggested that the game could release in late 2026 for the Holiday 2026 season.
