June Star Fox release date leaks, but Switch 2 game could be a multiplayer spinoff

Nintendo’s late spring and summer schedule is taking shape. Still, another popular franchise could return during these months. NateTheHate earlier teased a Star Fox Switch 2 announcement in April. Although time is running out, he remains confident in the leak. With a June release date, the title may also be a multiplayer-focused spinoff.
NateTheHate has a stellar track record for accurate reporting. That said, doubts have been growing about some of his predictions. Adding to the uncertainty, YouTuber Nintendo Prime suggested that the gaming giant has been spreading fake information to identify leakers.

Addressing skeptics, the insider provided an update on the ResetEra forums: “I have zero doubt in the StarFox project.” He noted that Video Games Chronicle, as well as journalist Oscar Lemaire, verified its existence. If the publisher doesn’t clarify launch timing for the game imminently, NateTheHate only anticipates a slight delay.
An all PvP Star Fox game?
While multiple sources believe a revival is inevitable, the type of Star Fox Switch 2 game coming is unclear. Initial leaks described a “classic-style” adventure with Fox McCloud. Yet, the also reliable Oscar Lemaire was only aware of a multiplayer mode. Entries like Star Fox 64 and, more recently, Star Fox Zero feature split-screen or co-op gameplay but not online matchmaking.
The French journalist didn’t rule out a single-player option. Even so, he referred to the project as a spinoff with a different take on the rail-shooter experience. If smaller in scope, that may explain why Nintendo wouldn’t give much warning for a Star Fox release date. Some gamers are speculating that a more traditional title could arrive in 2027 or later.
Followers have also become frustrated with the marketing for first-party Switch 2 games. Instead of waiting for Nintendo Direct broadcasts, the company has relied more on its mobile app. Splatoon Raiders is an example, as its reveal and ship date were announced on Nintendo Today! NateTheHate has advised fans to monitor all channels for signs of Fox McCloud.
