New Switch 2 game leaks including Star Fox make Nintendo furious, says ex-employee

Leaks about unannounced projects are often a minor nuisance in the gaming industry. Still, in some cases, they can disrupt marketing plans for months. On a recent podcast, popular insider NateTheHate revealed the timeline for many upcoming Switch 2 games. An ex-Nintendo PR manager believes that the leaks are more than an annoyance for his former employer.
Kit Ellis served as a lead marketer during his 13-year tenure. He now hosts a podcast with Krysta Yang, who also handled public relations at the company. Following the NateTheHate broadcast, he recorded a YouTube short addressing the gaming giant’s likely reaction.

The insider divulged release windows for Switch 2 games, including a Star Fox revival and a The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. The insight even extended to 2027, when he anticipates a 3D Mario title finally debuting. Given the wide scope of the news, Ellis said, “I can promise you Nintendo is absolutely furious about this.”
Why the new leaks are drawing so much attention
What makes the situation different from past leaks is the media's response. Many outlets normally don’t report unconfirmed rumors. However, with NateTheHate’s stellar track record, his revelations have become public knowledge for a larger audience. Among a long series of correct predictions, he pinpointed the timing for the Switch 2 console announcement.
Referring to Nintendo, Ellis explains, “They have a problem with leaks right now that they can't seem to solve.” That’s especially frustrating since it aggressively protects secrets. Lawyers have pursued anyone who discusses or shows footage of unreleased titles with lawsuits. Yet, they have failed to shut down one of the most notable threats.
How NateTheHate has eluded the Mario and Zelda maker is a mystery. Regardless, fans have mixed feelings as to whether he should continue spilling secrets. Some gamers who believe a general Nintendo Direct is overdue appreciate the Switch 2 leaks. Other followers would rather wait for the company to introduce games like Star Fox on its own time.
