Star Fox Switch 2 review leaks before embargo and the remake's release date

The Star Fox review embargo should expire on June 24th. However, one site mistakenly posted its verdict on the Switch 2 game before removing the article. The Norwegian magazine Gamer.no awarded the remake of the N64 title an 8/10, but unfortunately, the rest of the text wasn’t visible.
Redditor Loose_Society9485 linked to an archive of the site, which displays the score. It seems Nintendo has otherwise avoided the leaks of boxed copies that have plagued the company. Fans will have to wait until Metacritic is flooded with submissions for more insight. As the rail shooter’s June 25th release date approaches, some are still wondering if it's worth the investment.

Nintendo receives criticism for its over-reliance on recycling classics. It’s also likely banking on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake as a holiday console seller. With the Star Fox Switch 2 project, the gaming giant has kept the core gameplay of the 1997 N64 version intact. Still, previews suggest it may have added enough to warrant a $60 physical price at Amazon, currently discounted to $50 for pre-orders.
Another Nintendo favorite revisited
Playtesters have praised the upgraded graphics, which maximize the handheld specs. That said, not all followers are embracing the realistic art style for Fox McCloud and his friends seen in the trailers and demo. There are fresh cinematics as well, but some fans are put off by their serious tone.
Star Fox reviews will determine how much other additions, like new multiplayer options and Joy-Con mouse mode, benefit the remake. Looking back, with limited data, the original N64 title sits at 88 on Metacritic. Meanwhile, the 2011 3DS port averages at a more modest 81.
The leaked Gamer. No 8/10 score could reflect a consensus for the latest iteration of the Nintendo game. If the demo and previews didn’t provide enough guidance, the rumored June 24th embargo time is 9AM EST/3PM CEST. The Star Fox Switch 2 release date follows closely behind on June 25th.
