The much-hyped cartoon shooter MOUSE: P.I. For Hire is on sale on Steam for the first time. With a 20% discount, the game is currently available for around $24 – but only for a limited time.

Shortly before its release in April 2026, MOUSE: P.I. For Hire ranked high on Steam’s most-wishlisted games list – and nearly two months after launch, the cartoon-style first-person shooter is still performing well. The roughly 13,000 reviews are 94% positive, and according to SteamDB, the game still regularly attracts more than 500 concurrent players. To maintain that momentum, publisher PlaySide has launched the game’s first discount promotion shortly before the Summer Sale, though it only runs for two days. The 20% discount lowers the regular price from around $30 to $24. The offer ends on June 25 at 7 p.m CEST / 10 a.m. PDT.

What makes MOUSE: P.I. For Hire stand out is its presentation. It is a hard-hitting boomer shooter wrapped in a charming cartoon style reminiscent of old Disney productions. The setting also has plenty of noir flair. As private detective Jack Pepper, players investigate a missing person case in Mouseberg, a city filled with shady gangs and corrupt mouse cops. With wall runs and double jumps, the game also offers fast-paced gameplay.

In a review by German gaming magazine PC Games, MOUSE: P.I. For Hire impresses with fast, punchy gunplay that strongly recalls classic shooters such as Doom and Quake. The varied weapons, diverse enemies and creative levels are also intended to provide an entertaining experience. However, the detective elements remain superficial and offer little real investigative work. There are also only a few meaningful decisions, meaning alternative approaches usually lead to the same result. According to PC Games, the difficulty level is comparatively low and the money system is of limited use. Overall, however, the cartoon shooter is said to offer good value for money and received a score of 8.5 in the review. The game is also “Verified” for the Steam Deck, which should make the offer interesting for handheld gamers as well.
