Seiko's new Edo Murasaki collection encompasses 9 watches, and almost all of them are now live for pre-order
Seiko's Edo Murasaki 145th anniversary collection is now open for preorder on the brand's Japanese online store ahead of an October 9 release. All the watches range in price from ¥63,800 to ¥330,000 (~$400 to $2,071). The store ships only within Japan, and several references are domestic-only.

Seiko's Edo Murasaki collection, which was the highlight of the August launch wave, has officially opened for preorder on the brand's Japanese online store ahead of their October 9 availability. Pricing starts from ¥63,800 for the 5 Sports HDB003J to ¥330,000 for the Astron HAB011J, roughly $400 to $2,071.

The six references announced internationally all have split allocations. The Astron HAB011J is capped at 2,000 worldwide with 700 for Japan; the Prospex Speedtimer HBJ005P at 8,000 with 1,000; the Alpinist HBC006J at 7,000 with 1,000; the Presage Cocktail Time HCB006J at 6,000 with 500; the Seiko Selection Rotocall HFL001P at 3,900 with 400; and the 5 Sports HDB003J at 9,999 with 999.

The Japanese listings also include references that have no worldwide figure. The Astron HAC003J is described only as limited to 500 pieces in Japan, alongside another Astron reference, the HAD003J at ¥176,000. Both are listed alongside the Lukia HEE004J — the 400-piece women's reference which we already established as domestic-only.

Ordering is restricted regardless. Like with the Prospex Alpinist duo, the store is geo-blocked, and its checkout lists Japan as the only delivery country, with prefecture selection required. Overseas buyers will have to use proxy services.

The entire collection is tied together by the Edo Murasaki theme. It's the purple associated with the Edo period and, in the Presage's case, a cocktail of the same name created by Hisashi Kishi of Star Bar. Gold accents are prevalent across the range as the primary anniversary marker.

The HAB011J is a GPS Solar chronograph on a two-tone bracelet; the HBJ005P a Speedtimer solar chronograph with a lilac dial; the HBC006J an Alpinist with a compass bezel and Core Shop distribution; the HFL001P a digital alarm chronograph in black and purple. All prices include Japan's 10% consumption tax.
