Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake edition Switch 2 may ship by release date after revenue surge

Rumors of a Switch 2 console celebrating an upcoming Zelda game continue to swirl. Leaks suggested that Nintendo would unveil a limited-edition handheld before the Ocarina of Time remake release date. Unusually high revenue from the likely assembler of the system may justify these reports.
Just a coincidence?
Nintendo Patents Watch noted how July revenue for Foxconn surged to 21.4 billion New Taiwan Dollars. This number is greater than any month leading up to the Switch 2 debut and the highest since 2017. The company has produced hardware for Xbox and PlayStation, but there is no evidence that it has accepted a new major client.
Foxconn revenue increased in June, but not by the same degree. It’s possible that the prior jump was attributed to Nintendo preparing a revised Switch 2 console for the EU. It also tweaked its Pro Controller for easier battery replacement and to comply with right-to-repair regulations.

Another scenario is that a Switch 2 Lite or OLED upgrade is in the works. The gaming giant’s Research & Development costs have risen significantly in the past year. However, unlike with a Zelda: Ocarina of Time edition, there have been no rumblings indicating these models are imminent.
A new Switch 2 for the holidays
The account believes holiday shoppers are more likely to see limited-edition hardware. With the impending Switch 2 price increase in September, Nintendo may want to capitalize on the Ocarina of Time remake release date. The Tears of the Kingdom Switch OLED previously boosted declining sales in 2023.
Shpeshal Nick was the first to reveal plans for another console commemorating a Zelda game. Since then, retail leaks emerged about a Pro Controller adorned with the Triforce symbol and the Hylian Crest. A logo for the Zelda 40th Anniversary also surfaced, an occasion that has been mostly overlooked so far.
Nintendo has yet to narrow the launch timing or begin pre-orders for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. Its latest financial summary only reconfirmed that it would arrive in 2026. If news doesn’t come in August, hopes will turn to a potential Direct showcase in September.
