The GPD Win Max 3 has reared its head again. Launching in August, the new handheld will start at $1,699 with 32 GB of RAM, a 165 Hz OLED display and an AMD Strix Halo processor. GPD plans to sell its Win Max 2 successor with up to 128 GB of RAM and 4 TB of storage, too.

The next GPD Win Max has taken a step closer to being released. First teased way back in October 2025, it was until the end of June before any concrete specifications or pictures surfaced. Initially, GPD sought to temper leaks and rumours, despite officially acknowledging their existence.

Without warning, the company has listed the Win Max 3 on its global website with full hardware specifications. As expected, the latest Win Max takes a different approach compared to the Win Max 2 (curr. $1,680 on Amazon). For instance, the Win Max 3 boasts AMD's Radeon 8060S iGPU via the Ryzen AI Max+ 388 or Ryzen AI Max+ 395. SKUs should be available with 32 GB, 64 GB or 128 GB of LPDDR5X-8000 RAM too, as well as 512 GB to 4 TB of storage.

Additionally, the Win Max 3 is about 20 mm narrower and 13 mm shorter than its predecessor. However, that is only true without the device’s battery or cooling modules. Attach those and the Win Max 3 jumps to 180 mm in length, making it 20 mm longer than the Win Max 2.

Nonetheless, the Win Max has dropped from a 10.1-inch display to a 9.06-inch alternative. This change coincides with GPD adopting an OLED panel though, which delivers a 165 Hz refresh rate and 650 nits SDR brightness. Enabling high brightness mode (HBM) boosts peak brightness further to 1,050 nits.

Reportedly, global orders will begin at the end of August, 2026. Moreover, there are rumours that the Win Max 3 will start at $1,699. Presumably, this SKU includes the Ryzen AI Max+ 388, 32 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. Full pricing information remains to be seen at this stage, though.
