Nintendo Switch OLED Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Edition retail packaging and real-world images leak online
With a Nintendo Switch 2 not due anytime soon and the Switch Pro cancelled, gamers have little to anticipate in the way of new Nintendo hardware. That could change in mid-2023 when the highly-anticipated Breath of the Wild sequel, Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, is set to launch. Nintendo plans to celebrate the iconic launch with a new console.
Real-world pictures of the handheld tentatively called Nintendo Switch OLED Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Edition showed up on online forums such as Reddit, ResetEra and Famiboards (H/T Wccftech). It shows the retail packaging of the console and the unit itself, which, as expected, contains elements from the game. One gets a Zelda-themed dock and Joy-cons, but the actual console isn't shown clearly. Additionally, Nintendo could even throw in some goodies inside the box.
A close look at the Nintendo Switch OLED: Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Edition's retail box confirms the console will not include a copy of the game with it. While that might come off as odd, especially when Sony and Microsoft include one with their themed consoles, the behaviour sits in line with Nintendo's overall demeanour. There is no word about how much the custom console could cost, but a US$400-ish price tag seems plausible.
