8BitDo expands its Gears of War: E-Day accessories with branded keyboard and mouse

As promised 8BitDo has launched two new Gears of War edition products in collaboration with Xbox. The new products are collectively known as the 8BitDo Gears of War: E-Day Keyboard and Mouse Collection and are special editions of 8BitDo's Retro 87 Keyboard and Retro R8 Mouse. They join the previously announced 8BitDo Ultimate Charging Dock for Xbox Controllers – Gears of War: E-Day Edition.

The 8BitDo Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard - Gears of War: E-Day Edition is based on the Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard Xbox Edition. However, instead of the Xbox green color, the Gears of War edition is black and crimson with a fractured earth design. The game's name is printed right above the function keys, and the Game Bar button swaps the Xbox logo for the Gears of War logo.

The keyboard has a mix of translucent red, opaque red, and opaque black keycaps; and 8BitDo has replaced the first four keys of the number row with iconic weapons from the game. It also ships the keyboard with a translucent red 2.4GHz adapter and dual wired Super Buttons adorned with Gears of War insignias.

With respect to specs, the Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard - Gears of War: E-Day Edition boast 8BitDo Cloud Gray linear mechanical switches co-developed with Huano. For comparison, the Xbox edition uses Kailh Jellyfish X switches. The keyboard also has RGB backlight (8 light modes), a hot-swappable PCB, and support for N-key rollover. Like the other Retro 87 Mechanical keyboards, it has support for Windows and Android devices; and connects via Bluetooth, 2.4G wireless, and USB-C.

The Retro R8 Mouse - Gears of War: E-Day Edition keeps the crimson red and black theme of the keyboard. Parts of the mouse are translucent red, while the buttons, the palm rest, and the scroll wheel are black. The charging dock has the Gears of War: E-Day branding and the 2.4G receiver is translucent red like that of the keyboard.

8BitDo says the R8 Mouse - Gears of War: E-Day Edition uses a PAW 3395 sensor and Huano micro switches. Like the keyboard, it also supports tri-mode connectivity, and its 450mAh battery should provide about 100 hours of use.

The 8BitDo Retro 87 Mechanical Keyboard - Gears of War: E-Day Edition has a price tag of $119.99, while the Retro R8 Mouse - Gears of War: E-Day Edition costs $59.99. Both are available to pre-order now on the 8BitDo eShop. However, only the keyboard is available on Amazon. Regardless of where you purchase these accessories, the release date is October 30.
