New Xbox reward for achievement hunters goes all the way back to Xbox 360

Mythic Achievements are a special distinction awarded to games in which all achievements available at the time of the original release have been unlocked. Achievements added later through DLC, expansions or content updates are not required and are listed separately as “Add-on” achievements. Once a game has earned Mythic status, it also retains that status even if developers add more achievements later.
At the same time, Microsoft is revamping how achievements are displayed on Xbox profiles. A new Gaming tab brings together achievements, fully completed games and Mythic awards. It also shows at a glance how much progress remains until the next Gamerscore milestone. Mythic titles are highlighted with a more prominent border, while games that have not yet been fully completed feature a progress bar showing how close they are to Mythic status.
Longtime Xbox players may be particularly interested in the fact that the feature works retroactively. Games that were fully completed years ago will automatically receive the distinction – and according to Microsoft, this also includes Xbox 360 titles. Players who have completed many games over the years could therefore find several Mythic Achievements waiting for them once the system launches.
However, it remains unclear when the new features will become available to everyone. So far, only participants in the Insider program have access, and even there, the rollout appears to be gradual.
Reddit reactions are mostly positive
The changes have been particularly well received by achievement hunters. The new presentation and special unlock sound are receiving plenty of praise in a recent Reddit thread. Many users also welcome the retroactive awarding of Mythic distinctions.
However, a few wishes remain unfulfilled. Some players would also like Mythic Achievements to come with a Gamerscore bonus, while others point out that the effort required to fully complete a game can vary significantly from one title to another. The biggest criticism, however, concerns not the feature itself but its availability. Several users complain that new features are initially rolled out to Insiders while it remains unclear when they will become widely available to all players.
