SteelSeries Sensei Pro, Rival Pro series gaming mice boast UWB 8K connectivity and infinite battery

SteelSeries has joined the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) bandwagon with new gaming mice, the Sensei Pro and Rival Pro series. These include standard and mini sizes for both symmetrical and ergonomic shapes. They are both lightweight gaming mice with swappable batteries.

The main difference between the two is the shape. The Sensei Pro is symmetrical, while the Rival Pro is ergonomic. Both feature UWB connectivity, which is a more free and open frequency compared to traditional 2.4 GHz, allowing for a more stable and responsive connection, on paper. SteelSeries claims 0.35 ms click latency and “true 8K” polling. In fact, the company is claiming “9K Over-Polling” to ensure there is at least an 8K signal consistently.

The Sensei Pro and Rival Pro use the TrueMove 42K Pro sensor, which is a customized PixArt PAW3955 with SuperSync. This gives the mice up to 42,000 DPI with 800 IPS max speed and 70G acceleration. Both mice also use optical switches rated for 100 million clicks. In terms of battery life, both the standard and mini models seem to be backed by 310 mAh batteries so the battery life claim is the same regardless of the size. SteelSeries says a single battery at 8K polling lasts up to 16 hours. At 1K, each battery can last up to 60 hours.

As mentioned earlier, the Sensei Pro and Rival Pro series are lightweight gaming mice, coming in at 53 grams for the standard size. The Sensei Pro Mini and Rival Pro Mini weigh 49 grams, but their white color variants are 1 gram heavier.

Both the Sensei Pro and Rival Pro series of gaming mice are priced at $180. They are available for pre-order via the official store and will officially launch on October 13.
