Garmin releases new update for high-end smartwatch with added feature and other improvements

Garmin has started rolling out a new update to one of its high-end smartwatches. This time, the company has returned with a new update for the Enduro 3 (curr. $799 on Amazon), having issued System Software 23.31 over two weeks ago.

For some reason, Garmin is maintaining the Enduro 3 on a different development schedule than the Fenix 8 and even the Fenix 8 Pro. Specifically, the company released System Software 23.39 to the Fenix 8 on September 25 before issuing the same update 48 hours later to the Fenix 8 Pro and associated Pro-branded models.

Now, the same firmware has reached the Enduro 3 as part of a global rollout. In a forum post, Garmin claims to have already offered the update to all Enduro 3 owners. If that is not the case, then one can request the update manually by navigating through the main menu to Settings, System and Software Update before tapping 'Check for Updates'.

According to Garmin, System Software 23.39 brings 22 changes to the Enduro 3. By our count, only four are new from System Software 23.31, though, including using 'Ok Garmin' as a voice command wake word. As it stands, the Enduro 3 remains Garmin's most recent Enduro release. However, the Enduro 4 appears set to be announced soon, as does the Tactix 9. The full changelog between System Software 23.31 and System Software 23.39 is as follows:

• Enables the voice command feature with the "OK Garmin" wake word.
• Fixes potential issue with Spotify music playback after skipping songs via paired Bluetooth headphones.
• Fixes potential shutdown when switching playlists in Spotify.
• Fixes potential shutdown when using the HIIT activity.
