Garmin releases new update for popular smartwatches with fresh improvement

Garmin has returned with a new stable update for the Instinct 3. Also available on the Instinct E and Instinct Crossover AMOLED (curr. $649 on Amazon), the update is an interim build rather than one that adds new features. In fact, Garmin only recently started its next beta development round for all three smartwatches.

While v16.xx beta development will likely continue for some time, Garmin has moved stable development on to System Software 15.19. For context, System Software 15.18 introduced over half a dozen changes and improvements to the Instinct 3 series. By contrast, System Software is said to address a single bug found in older software.

Specifically, Garmin claims to have resolved an issue that prevented some tones from being silenced in Stealth Mode. Please note that this bug fix only applies only to Tactical-branded models. Currently, System Software 15.19 should have reached around 20% of eligible smartwatches.

Typically, Garmin takes a few days to complete a full software rollout. As always, one can bypass these phased releases by tapping 'Check for Updates' after navigating through the main menu to Settings, System and Software Update. Please see Garmin's forum post for more details.
