Xiaomi releases smaller luxury smartwatch with 3,000 nit AMOLED display and 14 days battery life
Six months have passed since Xiaomi introduced the Watch S5. Now available globally (curr. $180 on Amazon), the Watch S5 combines a 1.48-inch AMOLED display with a 46 mm case size. Additionally, the smartwatch boasts up to 21 days of battery life, although we could not achieve that during our recent testing.
Now, Xiaomi has expanded upon the Watch S5 series with a smaller option. Incidentally, it has also unveiled a larger option with a transparent finish, full details of which we have covered separately. While the Watch S5 Transparent Edition adopts a 47 mm case size, the new Watch S5 brings a 41 mm alternative to Xiaomi's latest smartwatch series.
As expected, the Watch S5 41 mm contains a 1.32-inch AMOLED display with a 466 x 466-pixel resolution and 3,000 nits peak brightness. Not only is the smartwatch compatible with Android and iOS, but it also contains a built-in GPS module for use during activities. Moreover, Xiaomi installs a 590 mAh battery in the Watch S5 41 mm, rated for up to 14 days of usage between charges.
Pricing starts at CNY 1,299 (~$195), with a choice of Black, Sea Salt Blue, and Taro Purple finishes. Alternatively, Xiaomi is selling a Ceramic White option for CNY 1,499 (~$225). The company has not confirmed yet whether the Watch S5 41 mm will be available outside China.
