Timex debuts a new vintage watch with step tracking

Timex has unveiled the all-new retro-inspired TW5M55700JQ digital watch in the Indian market. Timex’s new model takes cues from iconic 1980s digital watches while offering a clean and minimalist design. Design-wise, the watch’s overall aesthetic pretty much matches with Casio’s ABL-100WE series. 

The Timex TW5M55700JQ watch ships with a 40 mm resin-made octagonal-shaped case, measuring 9 mm (0.35 inches) in thickness. The resin case is paired with a blue-finished silicone strap with a buckle clasp. You get an acrylic glass on top of the dial, which offers basic scratch resistance. At 36.9 grams (1.30 ounces), the watch is on the lighter side compared to the ABL-100WE series (curr. at $29.99 on Amazon), primarily because of its silicone strap. 

Besides its vintage design, the digital watch offers basic activity-tracking features. The built-in pedometer counts daily steps, while users can also check total distance travelled and calories burned on the watch’s LCD display. The timepiece can store activity data for up to seven days, which allows users to review their progress directly on the display. Plus, it is equipped with Timex’s INDIGLO backlight for better visibility in low-light conditions. 

Moreover, other functions include a stopwatch, two alarms, a calendar, a 12/24-hour time format, and 30 m (3 bar) water resistance. Unfortunately, the digital watch doesn’t offer smartphone connectivity. As for price, the Timex TW5M55700JQ is priced at ₹5,495 ($57.26).
